Burns Centre at Victoria Hospital

what we do

At the Burns Centre at Victoria Hospital, our team provides end-to-end support to women with burn injuries. We assist victims-survivors in recording statements, monitor their diet to speed up the process of recovery, facilitate the provision of their disability certificates and compensation, and refer them to shelter homes. We also provide them with medical equipment, medicines, psychotherapy and physiotherapy.

We have also introduced a single-window programme that serves as a one-stop centre to help with the needs of burn survivors and their families. Through this programme, we assist survivors in applying for government schemes for persons with disabilities and receiving their monthly pension. We follow-up on cases of acid attack survivors with the Karnataka State Legal Service Authority in order to ensure that they receive the compensation to which they are entitled.

We also regularly conduct blood camps in collaboration with colleges, government institutions and private firms to collect blood that is provided free-of-cost to patients to assist with necessary medical procedures. In addition, we help cover the educational costs of children of burn victims as well as children with burns. Moreover,we organise peer support groups so survivors can find a community that encourages their reintegration into society.
